Community Benefits

An overview of YZD’s Community Development efforts.

Northcrest is working with the City of Toronto, partners, and the local community on its Community Benefits Plan to provide tangible benefits to the surrounding community and ensure equitable access to employment and procurement opportunities for Indigenous, Black, and equity-deserving communities, prioritizing those living in the Downsview area. In order to ensure it’s success, we need your help!

Community Benefits for all

Job Seekers

Over the next 30 years, the development in YZD will create thousands of opportunities in construction and future jobs. Through our hiring goals under Workforce Development, a portion of the jobs on the project will be dedicated to people who self-identify as: Indigenous or Black living in Ontario; or Equity-deserving living within 10 km of the site. If you’re interested in accessing future opportunities, scroll down to get in touch.

Diverse and local businesses

As part of our development, we would like to ensure that local and diverse companies have access to tenders and opportunities during this multi-billion, 30-year redevelopment. Through our Social Procurement goals, priority will be given to: diverse suppliers (businesses that are at least 51% owned, managed, and/or controlled by Indigenous, Black, equity-deserving groups); businesses withing 10km of the site; and social enterprises.
