In the heart of Toronto, one of the biggest urban redevelopments in North America is underway at YZD, the 370-acre former Downsview Airport lands.

These lands are part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, signatories of Treaty 13 and Host First Nation to YZD. For thousands of years, it has been the Traditional Territory of many First Nations, including the Huron-Wendat and the Haudenosaunee peoples. We are committed to the wise stewardship of these lands and to meaningful engagement and partnership with Indigenous Peoples, as we strive to shape communities welcoming to all.

Imagine 370 acres of mostly vacant land evolving into seven vibrant neighbourhoods where parks, shops, schools, and work are within minutes of each other. At the heart of it all, a two-kilometre Runway transformed into a beautiful, ever-changing pedestrian street. YZD, the call sign of the former Downsview Airport, pays homage to a legacy of connection and aerospace innovation.

A look at YZD by the numbers

Our maps show YZD at a regional and city level, and how the first district will evolve.
Made up of seven distinct and interconnected neighbourhoods, YZD will be developed in phases over the coming decades.
